The Monolith Harp

We were contracted to build this free standing 13 string, fanned scale Bass/Harp based on an idea that our customer Richard had for decades. The only thing he knew for sure was the number of strings he wanted, and the shape of the instrument. It was up to us to layout the dimensions, tuning, and scale, as well as the pickup configuration, and electronics.

We decided to use all Honduras Mahogany for the 48″ body, and ebony for the nut, and saddle. We installed a 10″ Piezo element under the saddle and wired up a simple volume, and tone circuit.  It was truly a pleasure turning Richard’s idea into reality, and it was an awesome logistical challenge for us.
